Peltola Statement on Supreme Court Decision Upholding Mifepristone

“This ruling affirms what Alaskans already knew to be true.”

WASHINGTON – Today, following the United States Supreme Court’s ruling in Food and Drug Administration v. Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine, rejecting a lawsuit that would have severely restricted access to mifepristone, an FDA-approved abortion medication, Representative Mary Sattler Peltola (AK-AL) issued the following statement:

“I was born the same year Roe was decided. Now, 50 years later, in a post Roe world, this ruling affirms what Alaskans already knew to be true – every American has the right to make their own choices about their own bodies. But this challenge never should have been brought in the first place; mifepristone is an FDA-approved medication women have used for decades. I’m fighting to ensure Alaskans have access to safe, accessible reproductive health care – this is just one step.”
