Washington, D.C.— Today, Rep. Peltola applauded the House passage of the Securing Growth and Robust Leadership in American Aviation Act to reauthorize the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for five years. Representative Peltola serves as Vice Ranking Member of the Aviation Subcommittee and was closely involved in the drafting and passage of this bill, which will maintain American leadership in aviation safety and aerospace innovation, make groundbreaking investments in sustainability and resiliency, and improve consumer protections and accessibility.

“The Securing Growth and Robust Leadership in American Aviation Act will preserve America’s position as the global leader in aviation safety and innovation, while making major strides for Alaska,” Rep. Peltola said. “I am pleased to see that over a dozen of my priorities for improving aviation in Alaska are included in this legislation, including protecting the Essential Air Service, improving weather observation systems, and creating flexibility in funding for rural airports. This bipartisan bill sets important safety goals through the Don Young Alaska Aviation Safety Initiative while also spurring innovative technologies, including drones and Arctic-adapted fuels. I look forward to this bill creating good-paying jobs in aviation and boosting our economy, and I urge my colleagues in the Senate to advance their bill so that we can deliver for the American people.”
