Peltola Hires Grant Coordinator to Bring Federal Dollars to AK Communities

Aurora Taylor to Join Team Mary

WASHINGTON – Today, Representative Mary Peltola (AK-AL) announced her office had created a new staff position focused specifically on aiding Alaska cities, towns, and localities to better identify and secure federal grant funding. Aurora Taylor, whose previous experience includes grant and project management for Tribal governments and rural Alaska communities, joins Team Mary to help shepherd available Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, Inflation Reduction Act, and CHIPS and Science Act grant funding to appropriate Alaska entities.

“For too long, Alaskan communities have been put on the backburner by our federal government, their unique needs and ways of life overlooked,” said Peltola. “In hiring Aurora, we’re investing in connecting these communities to the federal dollars they need to finish their long-stalled projects, and putting Alaskans first in DC.”

“I’m excited to join Mary's team to get more federal funding and grant writing capacity across our state,” said Taylor. “As a resident of rural Alaska with a background in Tribal government, I've seen different challenges and successes with navigating federal opportunities. I come to the position conscious about Alaska's diverse needs and look forward to connecting Alaskans with resources and funding.”

Alaska entities can connect with Taylor at Aurora.Taylor@mail.house.gov.
